Being a single parent is challenging. When a diagnosis of cancer is added to it, even daily tasks become daunting. Take a moment and try to imagine feeling your absolute worst. Now, add in feeling nauseous and beyond exhausted after a course of chemotherapy. But as a single parent, despite how you feel, you have no choice but to make thatTarget run for detergent and toothpaste. But, what if you didn’t have to?
That is where Arizona-based nonprofit Singleton Moms’ steps in with their Bare Necessities program. Dedicated to nurturing single parents undergoing active cancer treatment and their minor children by meeting their practical day-to-day needs, their Bare Necessities program provides families with a supply of household items to help reduce the emotional stress and financial burden of keeping these items stocked. By taking on this task, the organization provides much needed relief and most importantly gives them the gift of more time with their families.
The support Singleton Moms provides through the Bare Necessities and its other programs keeps these families afloat and let’s them know that they know they are not alone in their journey. GET Phoenix is proud to be partnering with Singleton Moms for our Sept. 28 GET to Give event. We will be supporting the Bare Necessities program by donating items and assembling care packages. Items needed for the care packages include:
Toilet Paper, Tissues, Paper Towels
Zip Bags, Foil wrap, Paper plates, Plasticware
Hand & Dish Soap
Laundry & Dishwasher Detergent
Cleaning Supplies, Wipes
Body Wash, Soap
(Fragrance free & organic products would be great!)
We ask that all attendees bring at least one item. Register to attend today and join us in supporting these families and click HERE for a downloadable flyer to post at your workplace to support the drive!
