Volunteering: Good for the community, good for the soul.

March 9, 2017

Giving back to our community does so much for those we help – even if what we are doing seems so miniscule.  What some fail to realize, however, is just how much it can do for you as well.  Here’s a list of some great benefits that you receive when you volunteer your time:

+ Gives you new perspective

It’s easy to stay in our own “bubble” of life.  Often times, we miss out on the things happening right outside our front door.  Get out there and make a difference!

+ Potential to learn new skills which helps you gain work experience

At GET to Give events, in particular, we participate in hand-on activities that could potentially add a plethora of skills to your professional toolbox.

+ Chance to make a difference and provide a sense of purpose

…because shouldn’t we all strive to make the world a little better everyday?

+ Opportunity to strengthen your community

GET Phoenix focuses our philanthropy on local charities.  We are proud that what we do for these organizations is helping build a stronger Phoenix.

+ Reduces stress

Who doesn’t want to forget the cares of the workday/week/month and engage in something fun??

+ Creates connections with like-minded people, thus building your professional network

You get the opportunity to see new faces and get to know others while participating in something that, no doubt, is bringing out the best in you all.  What better way than to truly connect with others.

+ Increases self-confidence

Just as with any other activity where you meet new people, it gives you a chance to shine and teach yourself how to live outside the box.

This month’s GET to Give will be at Project C.U.R.E as we help sort medical supplies being sent overseas to clinics in need.

Project C.U.R.E. identifies, solicits, collects, sorts and distributes medical supplies and services according to the imperative needs of the world. From its humble beginnings in Colorado, Project C.U.R.E. (Commission on Urgent Relief and Equipment) has expanded to many other cities across the United States. Currently, Project C.U.R.E. maintains large distribution warehouses in Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. In addition, Project C.U.R.E. has established smaller collection centers several other states where donated items are gathered and then delivered to its warehouses. Project C.U.R.E. now collects medical donations in many U.S. cities.

Project C.U.R.E. has been an industry leader in developing new ways to allow the organization to provide the highest quality donated medical supplies and equipment possible to resource-limited communities across the globe, including efficient and accurate inventory systems, supply chain management, expert management of logistics and strong in-country relationships. Project C.U.R.E. also offers numerous domestic and international volunteer opportunities. Since its founding, Project C.U.R.E. has reached patients, families and children in 130 countries.

We will be at Project C.U.R.E. on Wednesday, March 29th at 5:30pm with an after party to follow at The Shop Beer Co. in Tempe.

Because of the nature of our activity, it’s very important that you PRE-REGISTER HERE.  You will be provided specific instructions for registering with Project C.U.R.E.

We hope to see you there!
